Oracle been busily converting all of their internal systems to run Linux.

There are organisations such as Red Hat and SuSE that have been working
with Oracle to 'certify' particular releases to work with Oracle.

In short this just guarantees that you can get everything from 9-5
support to 24/7/365

I started running Oracle on Linux three years ago and have been much
helped out by advances in LVM and other stuff.

I started using Red Hat 7.3 and then switched to AS2.1, I have found it
fast and rock solid (as one would expect), the Oracle DBAs were happy
once I had installed stuff like the Korn shell ;-)

Kind regards
Xander
