   I am assuming that there is a need for me to use the CNAME line to give
the FQDN when I want to use just the machine name, it is normal to enter the
machine name as an alias in /etc/hosts when there is no local DNS server and
it is the only system, but BIND 9 is very good at adding the local domain
information to anything that appears in the zone file, and may just do the
same with the alias.
