That's RHEL 3 WS based yeah? From what I can see of the SRPMs the 
GTK2/Mozilla versions seem pretty similar to what's on my Fedora Core 1 
desktop (which doesn't have this problem), so it goes slightly against 
what I've suspected about GTK versions. Maybe there's a difference in 
compile options in the spec files, or extra patches (backported from 1.5 
say) to Mozilla. It might be worth a go trying the Fedora 1 Mozilla RPMs 
(which should install on your system without too much issue I'd have 
thought).

In either case, the problem should definitely go away if you use a 
recent binary (Mozilla or Firefox) from mozilla.org.
