I found this too, a few years ago when putting Linux on old Compaq
desktops.
One tip I read was to gut old dead keyboards for their innards.
Loop the guts up with the cable and plug in. Saves space in racks.
Also, as I recall, Black Box sell dummy PS/2 keyboard plugs which fool
the machine at boot time.
