[Gllug] Printing woes

Has anybody got experiences with printing on SuSE 9?


I've installed CUPS on a system, and used the CUPS web interface
to configure two networked printers (HP Laserjets).
I can print test pages to the printers.

I've chkconfiged on cups-lpd

But when I try lpr I get:
lpr: error - scheduler not responding!

Similarly  lpq: get-jobs failed: client-error-charset-not-supported

Anyone met this before?
The errors are pretty generic lpr errors, so I Can;t get a handle on
what else I can tweak/configure.

Any help appreciated.
