Disclaimer sigs may or may not turn out to be worthless.
Regrettebaly, we now live in a blame-culture world ("if you have suffered from
anything, anywhere, anytime contact us and we will sue someone" -type adverts
everwhere it seems), which means that in the corporate world arse-protection
becomes the norm. For example, I have now seen cardboard boxes printed with
instructions on how to lift them (straight back etc!); I cynically think not
because of the manufacturers concern for my well-being but for the vague
possibility hat someone might sue them (we all remember the McDonalds coffee
incident !).

Thus, the corporate disclaimer sig is yet another arse-protection artifact.
I am surprised in fact that the disclaimers are not even longer, for example,
pointing out that any email emanating from the corporate domain of a nature
which is personal rather than relating to the company's business is the
responsibility of the author not the company etc etc. I am sure lawyers would
have a filed-day drafting a suitable clause ! I suppose that without such a
clause, Mr XYZ could happily sue my Company should I describe him in this
email as a w**ker !
