Isn't it more likely that Dell decided that they could a) clear out old
stock, and/or b) attract lots of shoppers to their e-commerce site, by
slashing the price on a load of servers? AFAIK the PE1650 [isn't that
the server they discounted?] is a relatively old line, so it seems
perfectly plausible that they slashed prices, sold off their remaining
stock in hours, and are now laughing all the way to the bank...

I'm usually the cynical one, but it doesn't seem ridiculous that they
sold out of the stock they wanted to clear, and then stopped... Of
course if they've accepted many more orders than they can fill it's very
dishonest, but this doesn't yet look like that to me.
