Absolutely.

From the client side perspective I have to say relying on IMAP just isn't good 
enough! Sure you can read the email and - so long as you can connect to an 
SMTP server - you can send mail too, but you cannot do much else. I was 
recently in this position and it stretched my support for free software to 
the limit (have since recovered, pleased to say).

The proprietary software that routes round this isn't much cheaper than 
actually buying the full MS OS client - and so why go to the expense of that 
when it means having the additional cost of training/retaining support 
staff/services for 'nix?
