... and fitted onto a Mach microkernel.

So from the kernel POV it's like Linux in almost exactly the same way as
DEC OSF/1 / Tru64 is like Linux. :)

(from a userspace point of view what you'll notice first --- other than
the GUI --- will be the odd NeXTstep-like directory hierarchy.)
