Try typing

	dmesg | less

after your machine has booted.  If you are running testing or unstable
then you probably also have the bootlog service installed, though you
will have to enable it by editing /etc/default/bootlog.  After you've
done that, you'll find that after a boot, /var/log/boot takes up where
/var/log/dmesg left off.
