Given the way ADSL is sold in the UK (ie everyone effectively being a BT
Wholesale reseller - except when using LLU based services) scale is not
too relevant except in ensuring that the BT Central pipe is sufficient to
cover the ISPs users adequately and in that respect small is no good
thing.

UK Free Software Netowrk is a national ISP specifically for the users of
Linux, *BSD and other Free Software platforms (users of other platforms
are still welcome though).

UKFSN provides ADSL as well as dialup, hosting, etc.

As I'm a member of GLLUG you can expect fairly good support, etc.

Another advantage to using UKFSN is that you know you are helping to raise
money to fund Free Software projects in the UK. All of the profits from
UKFSN are paid to the Association For Free Software for them to distribute
to Free Software projects.

I cannot comment on CoyoteLinux products however we already have a couple
of users who use PCI ADSL cards rather than external routers or modems.

Most of our users are using external ADSL/ethernet routers though which I
tend to recommend.

We had someone give a talk on wireless and Linux last year (I think?)
which included using Linux as a base station.

Several GLLUG members are regular wireless users (paging murble!) so I'll
leave it to them to answer this one.
