We're getting somewhere. How about posting the relevant line from your
/etc/fstab after replacing the password with xxxxxx.

I get a button marked "permissions" but no "allow network users to
change my files" on so I guess we are talking about different versions
of XP. As you can write as root it doesn't matter anyway.
