There is a problem with the DM602 and overheating. If the one you have does
not have any vents on it then after about 3 months of use it is likely to
stop working.

Netgear addressed this issue buy cutting vents in the sides as can be seen
on the DG814, 834 et al.

Its also possible to configure the Netgear devices by going to 192.168.0.1
and your ip address can be anything from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254. Its
also possible to change the default IP of 192.168.0.1 to 10.0.0.1 if so
required IIRC.

As a matter of interest, I have a Netgear DM602 which seems to work well.
It has only a single ethernet connection at the back, which is fine if you
only want to web-surf etc on one PC. However, 4-port switches are dirt
cheap
these days if you need to connect more devices. It does NATing in its
standard
form, with connected devices expected to be in the range 192.168.0.2 - 254.
A computer with a browser set to IP 192.168.0.2 is required to configure it,
which is pretty straightforward. The firmware also supports acceptance of
certain incoming port-connections with redirection to the required internal
IP address/port; although the standard config is to block all 'incoming'
connections. Don't know whether Netgear still make it, but it seems a
pretty
reasonable first-time buy.
