fsck just fixes a filesystem which is broken.  There's nothing broken
about this filesystem; you've just deleted a file, which is a
perfectly normal situation.

When you saw the filename, the first character was overwritten with E3
(I think), as I described initially.  If you change that first
character back to normal, the file will reappear when you mount the
filesystem (use a loopback mount for this).
