Well, if one has several computers, built and re-built over a period of time
with a range of different pieces of hardware in each it can become difficult
to remember which pieces of hardware are inside any given box.
Additionally, I don't know off-hand what, for example, the refresh rates for
are my monitors -- I'd have to check the manuals.
