This is the sort of response that I got last year from all MEPs except
the greens.

Basically they seem to claim:

    1. software patents are already legal
    2. these changes won't make software patents legal
    3. software patents are good anyway

Which is a bizarre set of arguments really.  

I particularly liked the bit in your DTI letter that claimed (by
implication) that the growth in the internet was because of their
intellectual property laws.  "Few!  Lucky they patented TCP/IP,
otherwise the internet would never have existed!"
