Indeed - there's no problem with them learning computing skills as well but 
if, for example, they're learning how to have Word check their grammar 
*instead* of learning good grammar...

Even if Word's grammar checker was perfect, which is far from true, what 
incentive would the kids have to actually think about forming a 
well-structured sentence when Word automatically marks-up bad ones for them?  
It can't tell them how to write well either - only that they've made a 
cock-up (and it's often wrong) - so it really can't be relied upon in place 
of real learning.
