[Gllug] Hardware v. Software CODECS?

My favourite half-hour BBC3 show takes up a GB of hard disk space.  And
other channels, like BBC1, are encoded at even higher bit-rates.

I got one a few months back for about half that IIRC, but I still haven't
managed to get it working yet.  I'll get around to it one day although I
suspect it may be broken, but then I usually netcat the stream to another
computer and software-decode it anyway.
