One other thing worth mentioning is that I've seen sync-ing not work on
some (possibly cheap and nasty) USB hubs - on work machines the cheapo
front panel hubs (yes they are real hubs, before you ask) do something
that causes timeouts so I just use a USB port directly on my mobo.
