[Gllug] maildirs

Some time ago I installed Knoppix and using getmail used maildirs. Now,
I want to use my Debian installations with maildirs, and find some of my
notes are missing.
I seem to have a mental block on the whole question and can find no
examples anywhere showing how most people set up the structure of
/Mail for a one man workstation with subscription to a good number of
mailing lists.
With all the spam and junk around, I use perhaps a lot of overkill.
I employ my ISP's sever side filters, then popsneaker to knock off
anything that's got through, then pull what's left off the POP server by
using getmail (into an inbox), then use a filter program to sort the inbox
into separate folders. Mail is read and replied to using Mutt and replies
go out using nullmailer. This setup works for me, and allows me to get
rid of new junk fairly quickly and eventually stop it before it gets into
my POP account.
Can anyone offer assistance, please. John.
