Bruce,

smbd and nmbd are not called from /etc/xinetd.conf. xinetd is installed and
running but the only items in /etc/xinetd.d are cups-lpd, cvs, fam, rsync, and
swat.

Have just tested the system by removing network cable from eth0 and after
about ten minutes reviewed /etc/nmbd.log as follows .....
nmbd/nmbd.c:reload_interfaces (263)
reload_interfaces: No subnets to listen to Shutting down ...

That's exactly what it has reported on every other occassion.

Any thoughts?

Regards,
Bob
