I'm surprised no-one has commented on this.
To me, this is just such a bad idea.
Mirrored RAID disks are for redundancy - pulling one out to back it up
gives me the fear.
Look at LVM and snapshots.
All servers these days come with gig ethernet.
Use network backup, starting from a simple rsync up to using
