[Gllug] Fedora or Fed-up

Well, I'm not sure how popular it is with others, but I was struggling with
Debian Woody and a Knoppix install on my laptop for a while (The installers
for the other distro's I have wouldn't boot for some reason). Then I got a
Mandrake 10 Community DVD on the cover of Linux Magazine, gave that a go and
haven't looked back since. I wouldn't recommend it for a server, but as an
easy to install, just get on with it desktop distro it's great! Before I got
it I was thinking about buying a SUSE 9.1 box set but at the moment I see no
reason to change.

David.

 Hello Glluggers ,

I'm in need of a new distro , my redhat 9 system is starting to drift
away
from the back of the cutting edge since it got end of life'd and i'm
thinking about moving to Fedora Core 2 .

I've used Redhat for a long time and quite like it , not so keen on
debian
desktops and my system is so slow (450mhz) that building gentoo would
take
 too long.

I have another box which does all the server functions for me so i just
want a comfy desktop to use the other box from , play mp3's , watch
tv/dvds , browse the web , write perl in emacs , bit of gimping ,
OOo , IRC , hopefully some audio stuff and network monitoring.

So in essence my questions are :

What success/disaster have people had with Fedora Core 2 as a desktop
 system ?

What have other Redhat 9 users done in this situation ?

If anyone is interested the box in question is an AMD K63-450 , 386MB RAM
, 12 GB Harddisk , USB wireless network, Miro PCTV card and DVD drive .

 Toodle-pip
 Amias
