It sounds like it may be a SuSE specific issue. I don't use SuSE myself so I'm 
not sure what to try OTTOMH. 

I'd proably start googling and seeing what's on the SuSE support lists/forums. 
Once you can give a more indepth report of what's happening I'm sure we can 
help you.
