Simon,
  Did you ever make any progress with this.  There were probably better
sites out there but I only had a second to search.  I am interested in
buying an iPod and would like to do the car thing too.  Please keep us
posted.

P.S. Upon re-reading my response below, it came across a bit harsh.  I
didn't mean it that way, I was just short on time.
