[Gllug] Oracle on Linux

I believe that a RAC cluster has been investigated.  Up till now I have had
little to do with this one.  This would need to be a beast of a system, it
will be running virtually all of the Authority's finance.  

Newham finally went M$, they were cut a very good deal I understand.  I have
been in touch with Eddie Bleasdale and he was due to get in touch with the
management here but I've heard nothing more from that quarter.

It does look as though a machine is going to be bought for evaluation of
Oracle and Linux and after that it may well be used to replace our ailing
intranet server.  A touch of overkill perhaps?
