[Gllug] joining a wireless LAN

I run Debian Sarge and have dialup access to the internet/web. My ISP
allows me
120 hours per month and I rarely use even 25% of this.

A neighbour has ADSL access at 2 Meg, and I used to have access to this on
a W2000 install and via cabling with ethernet cards (for greater speed
with say .iso
downloads. The only Linux distro I was able to use to connect was
Knoppix, and
the config was automatic.

Now, the neighbour has gone to wireless and again I can gain access in
W2000 by
using a Belkin Wireless usb Adaptor (IEEE 802.11b / 11Mbps).

I'd now like to get access from my main Sarge install (2.6.7 kernel). He
has a
dhcp server, and I know my IP and the default Gateway IP etc. However, I
have no idea how to go about doing this. I can't find any appropriate howto
and considerable googling hasn't helped.

Will someone please assist. I'm in the mid seventies and take some time
to 'got
hold' of new things, so a step by step explanation would, if possible be
much
appreciated.

John.

P.S. I've just installed a second Sarge which I intend to upgrade to Sid
(unstable),
leaving my main and fully working Sarge untouched. The quicker downloading
would be a great help.
