Which is why Perl isn't going to vanish any time soon.  Perl is not a
pretty language but it is powerful in ways that PHP still is not (and
may never be), so that they aren't really in comparable classes.

I'm still puzzled by the lack of any genuine Python equivalent to CPAN.
Making everything a core module isn't a sane substitute.
