Re CD drives.....

I was under the impression that audio CD players use an 'interpolation' scheme
whereby if they can't read an area of data from the disc they simply 'fill in'
with the sound most recently played, or something like that, rather than give up
of produce garbage noise.

I assume CD drives do not do tghis, as they are general purpose, and simply pass
on what they can read.

Presumably the CDs being referred to are deliberately pressed with 'bad' patches
which an audio player will work around whereas a CD drive will either give up or
produce nasty noises.


Seems to me that if they have deliberately introduced flaws into the disc you
can quite reasonably ask for your money back    !
