Performance, and, errr, performance! The first is obvious. In my experience,
SCSI scanners are faster. Secondly, though, they seem to impose a much lower
overhead on the machine doing the scanning. Scanning via USB slows down the
host machine much more than via SCSI, and this can be quite noticable on
higher resolution scans.
