assuming you're using an x86 processor as that's the only architecture 
it supports to date.

Welcome to the real world where people use stuff that isn't x86 _and yet 
still need maintainability and seamless upgrade paths_.

Does CentOS support 15000 packages out of the box?  Nope, didn't think so.

Debian doesn't get updated too often partly because maintaining a few 
thousand packages across 10 architectures is a hard problem.
