[Gllug] Configuring the network on Ubuntu

Hi,

I want to add an extra network card to my Ubuntu box and my brain has gone
dead.

I have installed the hardware but I can't remember where I go to make sure it
is picked up by the kernel when I boot. I currently have 2 identical card
installed
and they work fine. I have configured the interface details, i.e. ip address
etc.

Interestingly a different mac address is recognised but I just cant activate
the interface.

Alternatively I could use a second virtual ip on eth1, but this wont activate
either.

Thanks for your help

Simon
