In some cases, yes. There's also a space penalty for having 64 bit
binaries (which in part contributes to the performance hit due to
increased load times). That's why Solaris generally runs with a
32 bit userland, with a few specific 64 bit apps where the benefits
of being 64 bit outweigh the downsides.
