That still doesn't make it a sane choice. Indeed, it's quite possible
to have data integrity using UDP by layering your own checks for missing
packets and doing resends etc. on top of it. But every single instance
I've seen of that results in a poorly though out half baked reworking
of everything that TCP already does, and does better. UDP is just not
a sane choice for a backup protocol.
