I think the bittorrent package you previously installed is the CLI one, 
I'm not an expert on torrent clients though.  At home I have it set up 
on the file server and run torrenflux as the front end:

It was quite easy to install just following the instructions on the 
site.  Picked ten ports on my router to forward to bittorrent and then 
changed the torrentflux config to only use those ten ports.
