If you're worried about space and noise, pick up an old SPARC machine off
ebay, and stick {Open,Net}BSD on it.

An IPX, SPARCclassic or LX can be had for a few pounds on ebay (postage is
usually more than the box) and only have a 70W power supply and one
(quiet) fan, so can happily sit in the corner of a room. And they don't
require a keyboard, just use a serial cable console if things go wrong.
