   By cross over, I mean that it is NOT
3 W/Gn
4 Gn/W
5 W/Bu
6 Bu/W
for ethernet. There are at least 3 standard connection configurations, and
for ethernet use the pairs are not connected with adjacent go and return for
every pair, which catches out many DIY enthusiasts. If the go and return
legs are not from the same twisted pair it might work for some of the time
but give plenty of errors. You may even find that ordinary telephone wire
works better as long as the pairs are correctly connected.
