You can find a hell of a lot of website statistics online with no 
password protection, referrer spam will get a site listed in these 
statistics.  Many of these statistics pages will be indexed by google 
and will therefore theoretically improve a sites googlerank as many 
statistics reports will link back to the referring site.  I get these 
all the time.
