Actually from his original email the furthest I can see that he got is
that he plugged it in and loaded hal-d-m to see it. There is no mention
of configuring the print system except that "try as I might I just
can't get it to print". I can assume SOMEthing was configured, but as
we are not told, I have no idea what, if anything, that is.
Now to be fair, my first response was a sarcastic (yes, I know) dig. It
was only then that everyone ELSE blew up. I am happy to help Gary,
especially as I have struggled with printing a lot in the past and know
how much of a bitch it can be, regardless of platform or printer, but I
cannot help anyone without any information (in this case - what was
tried and failed).
There are at least 4 distinct methods that I know of to configure cups
alone and a myriad of methods for the other print spoolers with varying
degrees of complexity. Should I just guess which have or have not been
used? And for which spooler?
Assumption is the mother of all fuckups.

I must take issue with the term "a mere child," for it has been my
invariable experience that the company of a mere child is infinitely
preferable to that of a mere adult.
