Yes but you'll be throwing it out mighty often if you put swap, /tmp and 
other regularly accessed bits of the filesystem on flash.

Flash has a finite number of write cycles.  When you're writing photos 
to a CF card from a camera, you're talking years and years.  If you use 
it for stuff like swap and /tmp, you'd wear it out very very quickly.
