So you're saying that if the connection's been NATed before it gets to
the router then the router's liable to drop it? I had just assumed that
the problem was with the linux box that was doing the pre-ADSL router
NAT. Rank heresy...

tcp_keepalive_time on the linux router or the vnc client seems to make
no difference tho'.
