That seems to suggest that you are running fedora ...
Yes: that is a pain; I recently installed centos (http://www.centos.org/), this
is redhat enterprise with the logos removed & rebuilt. The nice thing is that
it seems to be maintained reasonably well (ie patches issued a few days after
redhat issues them). Thus it will be maintained for several years.
