The traditional target for these explanations in our office was the coat
stand.  You do however have to convince yourself that the coat stand is
actually listening.  If you just go through the motions it doesn't work,
but if you earnestly set out to explain exactly why your system can't
possibly be doing what it's doing then you will realise half-way through
why it is.
