You might find it tricky playing DivX on the Dreambox, last I checked,
mine didn't :(  You can rip the DVD to a plain MPEG file, these do
play.

Try mencoder, part of mplayer,

mencoder dvd://1 -oac copy -ovc copy -of mpeg -o file.mpg
