[Gllug] Alcatel SpeedTouch on Slackware 10

I think I might be very close but will need help.

I've been looking at many conflicting resources which could be the
reason why I am not having success.

http://www.lemoncube.com/19.html
and of course the Alcatel site
http://www.speedtouch.com

But so far I found the utility below, to be the only one that got me a
succesful connection:
http://steve-parker.org/speedtouchconf/
but alas! Only for Kernel-2.4.XX !

Any pointers please let me know.
