I have the same chipset in my Acer Aspire 1670. I have Gentoo installed
and use ndiswrapper with the Windows 2000 driver (the Win XP one didn't
work for me with ndiswrapper) for wireless functionality.

Less than ideal, but works reliably nonetheless.
