I've been stripping the kernel a lot recently.
Not for speed but for compile time.

And I can see I already nulled the wrong modules for the other method to work

debian:~# modprobe usb_atm
FATAL: Module usb_atm not found.
debian:~# modprobe atm
FATAL: Module atm not found.
