Perhaps some sort of distributed reputation system for IP addresses.
It would be useful for clearing up wiki spam too -- all the wiki spam
I see is currently _not_ automated.  Poses some very interesting and
difficult problems making such a reputation system bullet proof from
being itself spammed.
