Thanks for all the great pointers. At least I know which bits I should
be trying to fix now. I was hoping to mess about with this on the
weekend but instead decided to upgrade my debian colo to Apache2. Bloody
mambo ate my weekend.

I shall probably return shortly with more irritating dbus/hal/udev
questions.
