[Gllug] W800i to Linux

Easy back up.
First check to see if your Suse has any Backing up Software.

Harder back up:

Open terminal -
type this:
tar -cf mybackup.tar * .*

then burn mybackup.tar on CD
K3B is a good application for that.

And do *not* extract this backup after upgrade.
If you do - you destroy your desktop.
Because it backups everything
But it is only the personal files you are interested in.

Upgrade should preserve your personal files.
But this backup is just a safe provision if the worse happens.

So, in the rarest event of something goes wrong -
Then you will use this backup to replace the important files back to
your home directory.

Not all of them - but picking only personal files: photos, emails, work, letters
but ignorning everything else (ie temp files, system files, etc -
these will create conflicts if put back after upgrade.)

regards

Henry

(sorry my typo and grammar is appauling today)
